ALGIERS- Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit in Spain has been awarded to former Algeria’s Ambassador to Madrid, Mohamed Haneche, by virtue of a royal decree published in Spain’s Official Journal on 15 October 2016.
According to the decree, the distinction has been bestowed on Hanche in recognition of his efforts and actions for the promotion of friendship relations and cooperation between Spain and Algeria.
Haneche had been ambassador in Madrid for more than nine years and was the most senior Arab ambassador in the Spanish capital.
Spain’s Grand Cross of the Order of Civil Merit is awarded on the proposal of Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs Jose Manuel Garcia-Margallo Marfil, and after the approval of the Council of Ministers
