Lamamra to lead Algerian delegation to 13th 5+5 Dialogue Conference in Marseilles

ALGIERS-Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Ramtane Lamamra will lead the Algerian delegation to the 13 Conference of Foreign Affairs Ministers of the Western Mediterranean Countries (5+5) Friday in Marseilles, which will be co-chaired by France and Morocco.

“Ministers representing member countries of the 5+5 Dialogue will broach regional and international issues of common interest, like the situation in Libya, Syria and Iraq, security, the fight against terrorism, development and cooperation, employment, youth and climate challenges with the prospect of COP 22 Conference,” the same source added.

Algeria, which attaches particular importance to this dialogue framework in the Western Mediterranean, “will seize this opportunity to reiterate its traditional position supporting the promotion of good neighbourhood ties and consolidation of cooperation and partnership relations between member states.”

Algeria, known for its dynamism, distinguished itself with initiatives aiming at broadening cooperation areas. In fact, these initiatives culminated in the adoption of a Water Strategy in the Western Mediterranean on 31 March 2015.”

On this occasion, “Algeria will also advocate strengthening political dialogue and cooperation to meet common challenges facing the region.”

Following the conference, “Algeria will assume the next co-chairmanship of the 5+5 Dialogue (Southern shore) for two years.”
