Air Algérie: First Commercial Flight to Venezuela

The national airline, Air Algérie, made its first commercial flight on Sunday, May 19, from Algiers to the capital of Venezuela, Caracas. The line linking the two capitals was inaugurated last January.

The first direct flight linking Algiers to Caracas landed last Sunday, January 21 at Houari-Boumediene International Airport. It was operated by an aircraft of the Venezuelan national airline, Conviasa.

This was the line’s inaugural flight, carrying on board a large Venezuelan delegation led by the Venezuelan Minister of Agriculture. An Algerian ministerial delegation welcomed them at Algiers airport.

The inauguration ceremony of this new line was chaired by the Ministers of Transport, Mohamed El Habib Zahana, and of Agriculture and Rural Development, Youcef Cherfa, reported  National Radio.

Speaking on the sidelines of the inauguration of the new direct air link, the Algerian Minister of Agriculture declared that it aims to “promote bilateral cooperation commensurate with the quality of political dialogue between Algeria and the Venezuela.”

For his part, his Venezuelan counterpart underlines that the line will also allow other travelers residing in the region to travel, “by transiting through Algeria, towards the different countries of the Arab region, the Middle and the Extreme -East, Africa and Europe”.

After the inauguration of this line, the national airline Air Algérie carried out, last Sunday, its first commercial flight from Algiers to Caracas, we noted on the flight tracking site  Flight Radar.

Flight TE514 was operated aboard a Boeing 767-35 H aircraft, belonging to the Polish charter airline Sky Taxi, chartered by Air Algérie to operate this new international route.
