Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour in the Forbes Africa ranking

Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour continues to write her history and that of her country. She has just joined the list of โ€œ30 under 30โ€ of the famous American magazine Forbes, in its edition dedicated to Africa. The vice-world champion is now one of 30 rising stars on the African continent under the age of 30, each in their respective field.

Indeed, the US Forbes magazine has published its new review dedicated to Africa and its 30 young people under 30, who have distinguished themselves in their respective fields. Kaylia Nemour won this place among young African innovators thanks to her hard-fought silver medal during the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships in September/October 2023, in Antwerp (Belgium).

This medal is all the more important as it is the first in the history of Algeria in the discipline, whether at the level of Africa or the Middle East and North Africa region. Better than that, the Algerian won of French club champion with her club Avoine Beaumont Gymnastics, thanks to her 56,365 points, at the end of May 2024.

Sports PSG and MCA are now partners

It is important to note that this new spotlight on the young Algerian gymnast Kaylia Nemour bodes well since it comes just a few weeks before the Olympic Games (2024 Olympic Games) in Paris. And it is on this occasion that the 17-year-old gymnast hopes to win a new medal. Preferably gold. Or at least, stand out in Paris and offer new recognition to Algeria.

Reactions from the Algerian Olympic Committee and Kaylia Nemours mother

This new distinction from Kaylia Nemour naturally sparked reactions. Like that of the Algerian Olympic and Sports Committee (COA) which was quick to post a congratulatory message on its Facebook page. โ€œGreat success for Kaylia Nemour! She became the first Algerian to appear in the Forbes Africa ranking at just 17 years old. Kaylia invented her own acrobatic move on the uneven bars in Pretoria, South Africa: “The Nemour”. We are proud of you and your accomplishments, Kaylia, and we look forward to even more success in the future! ยปwrote the COA.

For her part, Kaylia’s mother, who is also the president of her Avoine Beaumont Gymnastics club, also reacted to her daughter’s new consecration. Stรฉphanie Nemour proudly wrote: โ€œ well done my darling. Classified in the famous Forbes Africa magazine. You are making the history of African gymnastics, I am really proud of the talented gymnast that you are and especially of the magnificent young woman that you are becoming.โ€
