Representatives of the various media outlets covering the chaos in the Gaza Strip work in very difficult conditions. Several journalists have been killed by the Israeli army.

In an Al Jazeera video, a Palestinian journalist describes the harsh conditions in which she works in Gaza.

During the night from Friday to Saturday, Israel intensified its strikes on Gaza and cut communications, making the work of journalists almost impossible, as well as the intervention of humanitarian organizations.

Gaza: the shocking testimony of a Palestinian journalist

“As journalists, we feel like we are in a tightly sealed tomb. Our work is based on communications. Cutting off all forms of communication means our isolation from the outside world,” said the Palestinian journalist.

The journalist describes the reporting mission as “very difficult” from Gaza. “Everyone is dejected and has unanswered questions due to the total isolation,” she adds.

The situation is such that it is also difficult to communicate within the Gaza Strip itself. Journalists have no news from their loved ones, assures the author of the testimony.

“We have no news from our families, children, husbands, wives. There is a total break with all these details,” says the Palestinian journalist.

Since the start of Israeli bombings on October 7, journalists have paid a heavy price. They were not spared from the Israeli army’s strikes.

According to the BBC, twenty-two journalists were killed in Israeli strikes.

The families of journalists have also been targeted among civilian populations as was the case with Al Jazeera reporter Wael Al Dahdouh who learned of the death of his relatives while he was on air giving information on the situation in the Gaza Strip.

It is a massacre behind closed doors that the Israeli army is committing. In the Gaza Strip, there are more than 8,000 Palestinians killed and 20,000 injured according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health cited by Al Jazeera this Sunday, October 29.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health’s report shows 3,342 children and 2,062 women killed among the 8,000 deaths in Israeli bombings since October 7 in Gaza.
