Moroccans Surprised by a Time Change

On Sunday, Moroccans were surprised by an automatic time change, returning to GMT time.

In fact, the time went back one hour on smartphones, moving to winter time, which created real confusion for many people.

On the Web, automatic time change was the hot topic of the day. “What time is it?”, we can read in several comments, posted by surprised Internet users.

A technical aspect would be at the origin of this mess. Cell phones and other electronic devices change their time automatically when the option provided for this purpose is activated. They thus connect to a database called tz database (Time Zone Database). This contains all kinds of information on time zones and time changes around the world and is regularly updated by contributors.

Except that since the decision to maintain summertime in Morocco, the database still does not seem to have been updated. The changeover to winter time was scheduled in Morocco for the last Sunday in October.
