Elon Musk responded this Saturday, October 28, to calls launched on his X platform to help the populations of Gaza, cut off from the world by Israel.

Three weeks after the Hamas attacks on Saturday, October 7, the Israeli army has intensified, since Friday evening, its strikes against Gaza where more than 7,700 people have been killed, mostly children and women.

At the same time, it announced the start of its ground operation against Hamas. Before moving to commit another mass massacre, Israel isolated Gaza from the rest of the world. His army has cut off all communications and the internet, preventing rescuers from doing the work.

The director general of Unicef ​​expressed concern for the safety of her colleagues and a million children in Gaza. Many countries and numerous human rights NGOs have denounced Israel’s decision to cut communications and intensify its strikes against the Palestinian enclave.

On X, there were also calls for Elon Musk to connect Gaza to his Starlink network, which provides access to the Internet by satellite. In France, the hashtag #StarlinkForGaza quickly spread with more than 3.6 million messages, ranking second in trends on X.

In response, Elon Musk said on the platform,

The American billionaire indicated that no terminal has tried to connect to Starlink from Gaza, writing that a ” telecommunications blackout seems morally questionable to me.”

Starlink, which is a constellation of 5,000 satellites, has been used in Ukraine in the war against Russia since February 2022, allowing Kiev’s army to communicate and direct its attacks against Russian troops.
