Tunisia – Agreement Between the Government and the UGTT: All the Details

The newspaper Achaâb news, affiliated with the Tunisian General Labor Union (UGTT), published, this Thursday, September 15, 2022, the details of the imminent agreement between the government and the trade union center.

The agreement, which is expected to be signed today, covers a general wage increase in the public sector and civil service and on the points listed in the strike notice of June 16, 2022.

According to the newspaper, the increase granted to civil servants will be in the form of sums of money – according to the categories – while for the public sector it will be in the form of percentages and will take effect from October 2022, until January 1, 2025.

On the other hand, the guaranteed minimum wage (smig) will be raised, according to the same source, to 7% from October 2022.

Achaâb news clarified that the agreement also concerns the files of circular number 20, social and solidarity participation and the increase in the tax exemption base with retroactive effect compared to the agreement of February 6, 2021.

The agreement is expected to be signed on Thursday when UGTT Secretary General Noureddine Taboubi returns from Algeria after taking part in the work of the Third Summit of the Arab Union of Trade Unions taking place in Oran.
