Thus, the experience of Algeria and Canada regarding the promotion, and protection of children and social programs was reviewed, jointly between the delegate for children Meriem Cherfi, and the Quebec Minister of Social Services, Lionel Carmant, as part of a visit to this Canadian province, lasting from April 29 to May 3, according to a press release from the children’s delegation.

At the end of this meeting, the Quebec minister, capitalizing on this experience, described this dialogue between the two authorities as a “great rapprochement” between the experience of the two countries. He will also not fail to display a clear “admiration for the Algerian approach, like the constitutionalization of the supreme interest of the child, of all the legal arsenal and institutional and budgetary mechanisms put in place by Algeria for the childhood component, in addition to its desire to develop ways and channels of cooperation in this area,” according to the press release from the children’s delegation.

Moreover, following this meeting, the Quebec minister, Lionel Carmant, who expressed his admiration for the Algerian experience in this area, and the positive experience of the Algerian delegation for childhood in within the framework of preserving children’s rights, had published, on May 2, his X account, a post in which one could read, “With Ms. Meriem Cherfi, National Delegate for Child Protection in Algeria, a similar role what we put in place with the Commissioner for Children’s Welfare and Rights. Hence this visit agenda, rich in meetings, working sessions, and discoveries, notably at the Ministry of International Affairs and Francophonie, at the Courthouse, with the president of the judicial authority responsible for children and of youth, as well as to various establishments and institutions providing services to children in the province of Quebec, attached to different ministerial authorities, in particular those of justice, education, health, social services, security companies, social care centers for children run by civil society actors, the press release further notes.
