ALGIERS- Retail prices of the majority of food and agri-food products recorded increases last November compared to the same month in 2015 except for fresh vegetables the ministry of Trade told APS.
For grocery products, average consumer prices increased for infant powdered-milk (+12.6%), dry yeast (10.2%), pasta products (+8%), tomato concentrate (6.7%), rice (5.7%), coffee (+4.3%), packaged flour (+4.2%), tea (+3.7%), white sugar (2.3%), edible oils (+1.2%) and regular semolina (+0.3%).
However, powdered milk for adults recorded a 1.2% decrease.
As for dried vegetables, except the prices of dry bean which remained stable, they recorded a hike for chickpeas (+54.5%), whereas the prices of lentils experienced a 2.7% increase.
For fresh vegetables, they recorded a decrease in prices for dry onions (-31.7%), fresh tomatoes (-16.2%), potatoes (-16%), and local dry garlic (-0.9%) while imported garlic marked a sharp increase (+26.7%).
Concerning meat, the increases affected the prices of eviscerated chicken (+14%) and frozen beef (+0.6%), while there was a decrease of prices for local sheep meat (-1.6%) and local beef meat (-2%).
The prices of eggs increased by 30% in November 2016 compared to the same month in 2015.
