Tourism: Presentation of the “Jil Siyaha” and “Fikra F’Siyaha” Prizes to the Winners

The Minister of Tourism and Crafts, Mokhtar Didouche, chaired, Saturday evening in Algiers, the award ceremony of the “Jil Siyaha” and “Fikra F’siyaha” Prizes for the benefit of 18 winners (including 7 women).

The “Jil Siyaha” and “Fikra F’siyaha” programs are part of the partnership established between the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts and the Delegation of the European Union (EU) in Algeria, to integrate young people and facilitate their recruitment in the Tourism sector while allowing them to enter the world of investment with their projects.

Speaking on this occasion, in the presence of several ministers and executives from the different sectors concerned, the Minister of Tourism and Crafts affirmed that the two programs, intended for four pilot wilayas namely Sétif, Tlemcen, Djanet, and Timimoun, mainly aimed at “the integration of young people into tourism action in addition to the optimization of local tourism governance and the strengthening and modernization of the training system in this area to generalize the results achieved throughout the national territory”.

“These two programs can encourage and incite young people in the context of promoting creativity in the field of tourism, through the realization of eco-responsible projects which promote the tangible and intangible national heritage, in more to promote the Algeria destination by using digital solutions including the use of artificial intelligence,” maintained Mr. Didouche.

These Awards underlined the Minister, which testifies to the high competitiveness of young people in terms of innovation thanks to their remarkable ideas”, aim to “strengthen their different potentialities to allow them to raise the torch of New Algeria, thus consecrating its socio-economic and technological orientations”.

The minister also recalled that the destination Algeria has recently regained its place in the tourism dynamic, thanks to “the decisions and instructions of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, particularly in terms of promoting investment and facilitating granting of the visa, reporting the entry of nearly 3.3 million tourists in 2023, including 2.2 million foreign tourists.

For his part, the Ambassador and Head of the EU Delegation in Algeria, Thomas Eckert emphasized the importance of this program, carried out in partnership with the Tourism sector, in supporting young people aiming the creation and strengthening of the spirit of competition, investment and innovation in the different aspects of tourism, specifying that, within the framework of this program, it concerned young people aged under 35.

For his part, the Director of the “Jil-Siyaha” program at the Ministry of Tourism and Crafts, Abdelhamid Terghini described this occasion as an “important milestone” for the tourism sector, given the diversity of activities and programs provided for the benefit of trainees to enable them to carry out their innovative projects.
