Rebuild tourism demand and return to the situation before the health crisis where 13 million tourists were welcomed. This is, according to Adel El Fakir, the director general of the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT), Morocco’s priority for the next three years.

For El Fakir, the goal is clear. “We will absolutely have to wait for the recovery, pass the period of recovery and reconstruction, observe and probe new behaviors and new trends to be able to position the true potential of the destination,” he said in an interview granted to La Vie Eco.

To achieve this objective which is to reposition Morocco as a safe destination, “one of the major destinations of ‘Revenge travel’ as soon as the conditions for recovery are met”, El Fakir is counting on “the excellent image enjoyed by Morocco at the level the management of the pandemic and especially the vaccination operation ”.

El Fakir is also relying on the new marketing device dedicated to the Morocco destination to boost tourist demand. He welcomes in this case “the total overhaul of our digital presence, with strong components: video, social networks and segmentation of demand by country”.

The revival of the tourism sector will begin with the resumption of internal tourism, underlines El Fakir who announces that from next week, a national campaign will be launched to prepare for the summer season. Also, a global campaign will be organized at the international level, rather than country campaigns, he added.
