Algeria: Implementation works of 50 industrial parks to be launched before end of 2017

ALGIERS-The implementation works of 50 industrial parks intended for investment will be launched before the end of Q1 2017, announced Saturday Minister of Industry and Mines Abdessalem Bouchouareb.  

Speaking at the Government-Walis meeting held in the Palace of the Nations, the minister said that these 50 industrial parks will be distributed among 39 provinces over a total area of 12,000 hectares.

The minister affirmed that his sector will pursue the rehabilitation program of industrial and activity zones, adding that 167 operations have been launched for a total amount of nearly DZD 20 billion, including 161 ones that have already been implemented nationwide.

Provinces have been tooled up with a device simplifying land requests processing on the basis of an assessment grid established according to economic criteria, he recalled.

Thanks to these actions, the minister added, the number of registered projects widened from 1,228 projects in 2013 to 2,043 projects in 2015, up by over 60% over three years.

As regards the territorial deployment of investment and the decrease in investment projects the northern regions, the minister said the High Plateaus and Southern regios witnessed an increase in the number of registered projects, which soared from 410 to 742 during the 2013-2015 period.

The minister also announced the launch of a website for the establishment companies very soon after, in addition to the modernization of customs.
