Feraoun calls in Wuhzen for Internet development based on “multilateral and transparent” governance

ALGIERS- Minister of Post and Information and Communication Technologies Houda-Imane Faraoun, called Wednesday in Wuhzen (China), for developing Internet on the basis of “multilateral and transparent” mode of governance, said Thursday a ministry communiqué.

In a statement delivered during the 3rd World Internet Conference placed under the theme of “Innovation- Driven Internet development for the benefit of all,” the minister underlined the importance of   promoting a mode of cyberspace governance, involving all the partners in a bid to ensure reliable connectivity for all.

She added that “Internet governance should be based on the principle of guaranteeing access to the network for all.”

Nevertheless, she said this principle “can serve human rights and social justice only if it consolidates the freedom of peoples and States in this area, in accordance with the principles adopted by the United Nations and to which all countries are urging.”

On the other hand, in a televised address, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for strengthening international cooperation in terms of governance of cyberspace.

On the sidelines of this conference, an exhibition gathering around 300 leading companies in the Internet sector is organized so participants and visitors can discover a large number of technological achievements.
