European parliament members stage sit-in in solidarity with hunger strikers

Several members of the European parliament organized a sit-in in solidarity with hunger-striking Palestinian prisoners on Thursday, the 11th day of the mass “Freedom and Dignity” hunger strike taking place across Israeli prisons, with an estimated 1,500 Palestinian prisoners participating in the strike.

The sit-in was organized by Chair of Delegation for relations with Palestine Neoklis Sylikiotis, and took place at the European parliament in Brussels, Belgium.Among the participants was MEP Martina Anderson, an Irish politician from Northern Ireland who had spent 12 years in British jails.

Anderson tweeted a photo from the sit-in, showing a group of parliament members holding signs in support of the prisoners.

Parliament members from Sweden, Greece, France, Italy, Spain, Britain, Austria, Denmark and Portugal took part in the sit-in.

Representative of the Palestinian embassy in Brussels Adel Attiyeh also took part in the gathering.
