CAN 2017 (friendly): Algeria beat Mauritania (3-1)

BLIDA (Algeria)- Algeria’s national football team defeated their Mauritanian counterparts 3-1 (half-time: 0-1) in a friendly played Saturday in Mustapha-Tchaker stadium of Blida (50-km east of Algiers), in preparation of Africa Cup of Nations (CAN 2017) to be hosted by Gabon (Jan 14 – Feb 5).

Mauritania has opened the score with a penalty shot by Denne Taghyoullah (18th minute), before Algeria tied in the second half through Sofiane Hanni (52e).

In the 73th minute, Baghdad Bounedjah allowed Algeria to lead 2-1, before Bentaleb added the third goal (90th+1).

The two teams will play a second friendly next Tuesday at the National Technical Centre of Sidi Moussa, Algiers.

The Algerian squad will take off next Thursday for Gabon, aboard a special flight, to take part in the CAN 2017.

In the pool stage, Algeria will compete in Group B, along with Tunisia, Senegal and Zimbabwe.

Algeria’s Desert Foxes will open the tournament on Jan 15 against the Warriors of Zimbabwe.
