Algeria, Portugal to implement MoUs on water and environment

ALGIERS-Minister of Water Resources and Environment Abdelkader Ouali and Portugal’s ambassador to Algiers Carlos Oliveira agreed on the implement the Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) on water and environment inked between the two countries, announced Thursday the ministry in a communiqué.   

During a meeting between Ouali and the Portuguese ambassador, both parties agreed “on the implementation of the recommendations made during the 3rd meeting of the joint working group, which particularly relate to the implementation of cooperation mainlines included in the two MoUs signed in 2010 (on water resources) and 2015 (on environment) respectively,” said the same source.

Besides, the meeting allowed both parties assess cooperation between the two countries, and discuss means to further strengthen it through “mutually beneficial and diversified relations.”

Ouali and Oliveira welcome the state of bilateral cooperation, which is increasingly developing, and committed to working together to “promote a fruitful and sustainable cooperation so that it becomes in line with quality and level of political and friendship relations between Algeria and Portugal.”
