Tunisia: About the 2024 Ghriba Pilgrimage

The Committee of the Great Synagogue of Ghriba published a press release this Friday, April 19, 2024, about the annual Ghriba pilgrimage planned for May on the island of Djerba.

In its press release, the Committee affirmed that there will be no festivities this year at the Ghriva pilgrimage, which will be limited to religious rituals inside the synagogue itself.

“ Tunisia and Djerba will remain lands of tolerance, coexistence, and peace ”, indicates the Committee, welcoming in passing, “the efforts made by the authorities to guarantee the best conditions for holding the pilgrimage”

Let us recall that calls have been made to the Tunisian authorities for the cancellation, this year, of the Ghriba pilgrimage following the war, waged against Gaza and the crimes committed since October 7 by the State of Israel from where Many pilgrims often come with European passports.
