The head of government, Hichem Mechichi, affirmed that the preparations for the month of Ramadan, are among the main priorities of the moment, signaling that a ministerial meeting would be devoted in the next few days, to the examination of the means of supply. market by certain agricultural products.

Presiding yesterday, Tuesday March 02, at the palace of the government of the Kasbah, the meeting of the mixed commission 5 + 5, between the government and the Tunisian Union of Agriculture and Fisheries (UTAP), Mechichi indicated that this The meeting made it possible to continue monitoring various questions and suggestions, related to the production system, extension, production regulation, etc.

The two sides agreed on a set of issues inherent in supporting the fisheries sector, field crops, and ways to reform the dairy sector.

In a media statement, the interim Minister of Agriculture, Water Resources and Fisheries, Mohamed Fadhel Kraïem, said that this meeting had focused on “improving the working conditions of farmers, so that they are capable of continuing their activities ”.

He added, according to a video posted online, that a series of measures have been taken, concerning the dairy system, relating in particular to “the incentive to export in this period of high lactation, the encouragement of drying. milk, and the revision of milk prices, the exact value of which will be known in the coming days ”.

Regarding the cereal system, the minister said that the delay in the availability of ammonitrate and chemical fertilizers has impacted farmers. “We will have a clearer vision of the situation and the repercussions of this delay on the harvest in April, measures will be taken on that date to help farmers,” he promised.

It was also a question of “hastening the signing of sectoral charters, so as to improve the production and profitability of the various sectors, by encouraging the professionals themselves to supervise and support them”.

ETAP President Abdelmajid Zar said the pricing structure will be revised to limit profit margins for feed. He said that “the rise in the price of milk has become a necessity, and will be announced shortly by the government side, the ministries of trade or agriculture, to compensate for the great loss of farmers.”
