Interpol announced that it had arrested a hacker in Morocco, thanks to an investigation carried out in collaboration with the Moroccan police and a private group specializing in cybersecurity.
Fraud, phishing (technique of fraud on the Internet to obtain personal data), filing kits… he signed his attacks under the name of “Dr. Hex” and would have made thousands of victims specify the statement of Interpol.
The note also indicates that the hacker would have attacked 134 sites between 2009 and 2018. He has finally apprehended after two years of investigation thanks to Operation Lyrebird, that the cybercrime department of Interpol, in close collaboration with Groupe-IB and the Moroccan police, via the Interpol central office in Rabat, conducted in Morocco.
For Stephen Kavanagh, Executive Director of Interpol Police Services, “the case highlights the threat posed by cybercrime around the world.” The arrested suspect is currently under investigation.
