Sonatrach’s CEO, Abdelmoumen Ould Kaddour, received in Algiers the CEO of the Italian oil group Eni, Claudio Descalzi, said Thursday a statement from Sonatrach.

The talks between the two sides focused on the state of the partnership between Sonatrach and ENI, “characterized by a long-standing cooperation between the two companies in the hydrocarbon industry in Algeria,” the statement said.

During the meeting, Mr. Ould Kaddour assured his host of the availability of Sonatrach to reinforce the partnership with ENI notably upstream, petrochemical, research and development and in the marketing of natural gas and LNG.

In this respect, he recalled that Sonatrach remained “open to any proposal for mutually beneficial collaboration”.

Descalzi said he was delighted to discuss with Sonatrach on the issues of interest to the two companies, saying that ENI had “great ambitions to intensify its partnership with Sonatrach in new projects, Algeria and internationally “.

Sonatrach and ENI signed several cooperation agreements in the energy sector in November 2016 in Rome.

These agreements extend to exploration and other areas of activity such as renewable energy development, refining, petrochemicals and research and development.
