The French manufacturer Renault plans to soon launch its first Research & Development (R&D) center in Morocco.

This center will be based in Tangier and will employ around a hundred technicians and engineers. Its entry into service is scheduled for early 2025, Challenge reports, specifying that all Renault entities around the world will be able to benefit from the services of this center of excellence.

Renault has set its sights on Morocco for around ten years. A few months ago, the French group created a subsidiary in the kingdom, Renault Digital Maroc, dedicated to the development and maintenance of digital products for the benefit of the group and its customers around the world.

With nearly 60,290 new units sold at the end of 2023, Morocco is Renault’s tenth-largest market in the world. The French group’s two factories in Morocco, which employ 12,000 people, produced a total of 380,000 vehicles last year.

The French manufacturer plans to increase its production in Morocco to 500,000 vehicles from this year 2024, thanks to the production of the Dacia Jogger and the Mobilize Duo electric vehicle by the Tangier factory, as well as the Renault Kardian SUV by Somaca.
