ALGIERS – The National Rail Transport Company (SNTF) said on Monday that the reopening of the Algiers-Tunis railway line, with a connection to Annaba, originally scheduled for May 2, had been postponed “to a later date” for Technical reasons.

“The SNTF informs its amiable clientele that because of technical conveniences, the reopening of the railway line Alger-Tunis is postponed to a later date,” she noted in a statement.

As a reminder, the Director General of the SNTF, Yacine Bendjaballah, recently announced the opening of the Annaba-Tunis railway line from May onwards at the rate of one (1) train per day.

The approximate cost of the Algiers-Tunis route with a connection to Annaba is estimated at some 5,000 DZA , for a journey covered in six (6) hours, according to him.
