The Minister of Energy and Acting Minister of Water Resources and Environment, Noureddine Bouterfa, inaugurated a solar power plant with a production capacity of 3 days on Monday in the delegated warehouse of Djanet (Illizi) Megawatts.

This project, which also contributes to an economy in the use of energy products (gasoil), generated 160 temporary jobs, according to explanations provided to the ministerial delegation.

The Minister of Energy has also announced a 36-megawatt power plant project in Djanet, scheduled to enter service in late 2018 and early 2019.

This future power plant will strengthen the electricity supply capacities of the delegated wilaya of Djanet, with a tourism vocation par excellence, to ensure its self-sufficiency in this area and to contribute to the development of various industrial activities in the region, Explained.

Mr. Boutarfa has completed his one-day visit to the Illizi wilaya, which has also inspected the Illizi-Djanet pipeline, with an annual transmission capacity of 150 million M3, in Djanet.

The 379-kilometer long pipeline aims to supply natural gas to existing power plants and power stations in Djanet and neighboring localities, including Fadhnoune, Ifni, Ihrir, and the Bordj El-Haouès region, according to The technical sheet of the project. This ambitious project, due to begin operating at the end of 2017, will have to generate 300 permanent and temporary jobs, it is reported.
