TEHRAN (FNA)- Algerian Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal underlined that his government in determined to expand trade relations with Iran by removing the existing banking obstacles.
“I have given orders to the relevant bodies in this regard to resolve the banking problems between the two countries,” Sellal said in a meeting with Iranian Culture Minister Reza Salehi Amiri in Algiers on Thursday.
He reiterated that Algeria is interested to expand economic relations with Iran.
In relevant remarks in September 2016, Iranian First Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri in a meeting with Algerian Energy Minister Noureddine Bouterfa in Tehran underlined the need for removing obstacles on the way of banking relations between the two countries.
“Settlement of the banking problems will play an effective role in developing the two countries’ economic ties,” Jahangiri said during the meeting.
He also stressed Tehran and Algiers’ enthusiasm for boosting cooperation in the field of energy, but, meantime, said, “Iran and Algeria, as two oil-rich states, should decrease their dependence on oil revenues.”
Elsewhere, Jahangiri stressed the need for Algeria to play a more active role in the regional issues, and said, “We expect Algeria to play a more influential and active role in the regional issues, specially the problems that certain regional states and the Muslim world are facing.”
