These travelers will just have to observe a quarantine of five days at home and undergo a screening test (rapid antigen or PCR) on the 5th day.

Returning to Morocco after two years of absence and being forced to observe a ten-day quarantine in a hotel, at his expense. A scenario that was not to the liking of many Moroccans living abroad (MRE) because it upset their summer vacation plans in their homeland.

In the afternoon of Monday, July 12, 2021, the Ministry of Health put an end to their ordeal by announcing, in a press release, that Moroccan travelers, or from Morocco from countries on the B list which are not vaccinated, or who are incompletely vaccinated, are now exempt from this isolation. They will just have to observe a quarantine of five days and undergo a screening test (rapid antigen or PCR) on the 5th day.

These passengers must also present a negative PCR test within 48 hours (between collection and boarding). The department of Khaled Aït Taleb recalls that children under 11 are exempt from PCR testing, regardless of their origin.

Spouses and children concerned

Although deemed beneficial, this relief measure was still strongly criticized by many Internet users on social networks, who denounce the fact that the ministry did not take mixed couples into account in its decision. As if to rectify the situation, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Residing Abroad (MRE) published a tweet the same day in which it indicates that their spouses, ascendants, and descendants can also isolate themselves in domicile under the same conditions.

As a reminder, 81 countries appear on list B, after the integration of Russia, Tunisia, Egypt (July 6), France, Portugal, and Spain (from July 14 ), which are experiencing a significant increase in coronavirus contaminations, due to the strong spread of the Delta variant. An update that could upset the agenda of many travelers from these countries, especially those who had already made their reservations before this date.

In a tweet published the same day, Royal Air Maroc indicates that these passengers “benefit from a free flight date change until September 30, 2021, before the flight departs.”
