Algerian Minister of Foreign Affairs and National Community Abroad Ahmed Attaf has just announced new clear directives to Algerian consulates to better meet the needs of the diaspora. These directives concern facilities in the issuance of biometric passports and Algerian visas to members of the diaspora.
The Algerian government has taken steps to simplify administrative procedures for Algerians living abroad, particularly with regard to obtaining biometric passports and visas. The head of Algerian diplomacy reiterated the government’s commitment to Algerians abroad.
During his first meeting with Algerian MPs in the diaspora, Ahmed Attaf said that one of the main measures concerns the simplification of the procedures for obtaining the Algerian biometric passport . From now on, Algerians abroad can apply online and make an appointment at the nearest consulate. This measure helps reduce waiting times and make the process more accessible.
Foreign and undocumented spouses
The Algerian minister stressed that foreign spouses of Algerians residing abroad can now obtain visas for Algeria more easily . This measure aims to make life easier for mixed families by simplifying visa application procedures and reducing waiting times. In addition, the minister promised to hold regular meetings with representatives of the diaspora to listen to their concerns and respond to them effectively. Instructions were also given to consular officials to proactively respond to citizens’ requests and concerns.
Regarding Algerian undocumented immigrants abroad, the head of Algerian diplomacy recalls that measures are in place to issue them with Algerian passports, thus allowing them to prove their identity and regularize their situation. The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Head of State not to abandon Algerians in difficulty, regardless of their status abroad.
