The work entitled ”The Andalusian heritage in Tunisia from the 13th century to the present day” was published following the international conference on the same title, which was held in Beit Al-Hikma, in Carthage, November 25 and 26, 2021.

This conference was organized by the Tunisian Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts (Beit Al-Hikma), the Cervantes Institute, and the Spanish Embassy in Tunis, in collaboration with the Higher Institute of Music and the National Library of Tunisia.

It allowed the participating historians to offer a new approach to the often discussed theme of historical and cultural links between Spain and North Africa in general and between Spain and Tunisia in particular, and in particular on the contribution of the Moriscos expelled from Spain to our country where they settled from the 13th century, in several areas: agriculture, crafts, music, architecture, trades, etc.

The interventions of eminent Arab, Spanish, and French intellectuals who focused on new aspects of culture, politics, economy, language, religion, heritage, and music, allowed us to broaden our knowledge of the question.

This work is the result of joint publishing work between Beit Al-Hikma, the Cervantes Institute, and the Spanish Embassy in Tunis. It will be presented on June 20, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. at the Tunisian headquarters of the Cervantes Institute in Tunis.

This collective work of texts published in three languages: Arabic, Spanish, and French, and whose Spanish texts have been translated into Arabic will be presented by Professor Raja Yassine Bahri, coordinator of the Conference, who will at the same time give a conference on the installed Moriscos in Tunisia, in the presence of the Spanish Ambassador to Tunisia, Javier Puig Saura, Professor Mahmoud Ben Romdhane, president of Beit Al-Hikma and the director of the Cervantes Institute of Tunis, Germinal Gil de Gracia.
