Huawei Seeds for the Future 2023: A New Edition and New Opportunities – Tunisia

Huawei Tunisia organized in partnership with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the 2023 annual ceremony of the Seeds for the Future & ICT Academy program, this Monday, November 13, 2023, in Tunis.

The event brought together the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Mr. Moncef Boukthir, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China in Tunisia, and Mr. Wan Li, the President of Huawei Northern Africa. North, West, and Central), Mr. Terry He as well as the General Director of Huawei Tunisia, Mr. Liang Feihu.

The “Seeds for the Future” program has been launched in Tunisia since 2015. For this new edition, 22 Tunisian students were selected to participate in 7 days of training with the best international, Chinese, and Tunisian experts.

During his opening speech, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research of Tunisia Mr. Moncef Boukthir expressed his sincere gratitude to Huawei Tunisia for providing enriching opportunities to some of the engineering schools and students the most promising. He said: “Huawei’s commitment to young Tunisian talents is palpable, and we hope that this fruitful collaboration will continue into the future.”

The minister also highlighted the importance of this training which offers Tunisian students opportunities to seize. According to him, investing in the youth of today and tomorrow appears essential for the economic and social future of the country. He also recalled the desire to strengthen bilateral relations between Tunisia and China: “We are satisfied with our current cooperation with China and we seek to expand our ties, particularly through bilateral programs and research projects. common. We aspire to intensify exchanges between our respective universities and research centers,” he stressed.

For his part, the Ambassador of the People’s Republic of China to Tunisia, Mr. Wan Li, praised the performance of Huawei and its commitment to Tunisian students. He also applauded the fruitful cooperation between Tunisia and China in terms of technology and talent training, wishing to accentuate cooperation efforts. In this context, he expressed his desire “to deepen cooperation in scientific and technological innovation with Tunisia, to share data, technologies, knowledge, and experiences and to encourage more Chinese companies in quality to participate in bilateral cooperation. He also underlined “the importance of jointly supporting the training of Tunisian digital talents and the strengthening of innovation capacities to enable the sustainable development of digital technologies, respond together to global challenges such as climate change and governance of artificial intelligence “.

The presence of Mr. Terry He, President of Huawei Northern Africa (North, West, and Central Africa) during this event shows the importance that Tunisia has for Huawei in the world and in Africa. Speaking on this occasion, he explained that youth is the future of humanity. He thus promoted training that aims to support digital transformation. He said: “Talent is the key to making a difference. We must constantly equip our younger generation with the latest technologies, which is why Huawei continues to invest in talent development. We collaborated with 68 universities and institutes to create ICT academies and launched the Seeds for Future program in 2015 to promote the latest digital technologies. To date, 136 Tunisian ICT students have joined the Seeds for the Future program, and more than 7,000 students have participated in the ICT Academy project

This annual ceremony marked the close of the 2022-2023 school year by recognizing and honoring the academies, instructors, and students of the ICT Academy program. The overall objective of Huawei ICT Academy is to contribute to making Tunisia a regional hub for digital talents, by training the new generation in the latest technological advances.

It is worth noting that Seeds for the Future and ICT Academy are Huawei’s flagship CSR programs globally. These aim to build a stronger ICT ecosystem, by identifying and promoting young talents in the field of technology and contributing to their training and professional development.
