Demonstrators protest against “French interference” in Tunisian internal affairs

Members of the “Tunisian Campaign for Boycott and Fight Against Normalization with the Zionist Entity” gathered quietly on Saturday afternoon near the French Embassy in Tunis to protest “the interference of France in the internal affairs of Tunisia ”.

In remarks made to the demonstrators, the campaign coordinator, Ghassen Ben Khelifa, denounced France’s “continued support” for the repressions carried out in Tunisia since the Ben Ali regime and for the acts of violence carried out against “young activists. During recent protest movements.

In this sense, he called for the release of the demonstrators arrested during these protest movements.

He also castigated “colonial policy” of France and “imperialist capitalism” which oppresses popular categories.

The campaign coordinator called on French President Emmanuel Macron for the immediate and unconditional release of Georges Ibrahim Abdallah, who has been detained “illegally” for thirty years for his positions “against Zionism”, according to him.

For his part, the left-wing activist Hassan Ben Yahia, during his speech, criticized “the interference of the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the internal affairs of Tunisia”, calling on him to “cease all interference” in Tunisian internal affairs.

The demonstrators wielded slogans hostile to “normalization with Israel” and to France’s “colonial policy”.
