Canada: An Algerian Prisoner Commits Suicide in His Cell

Accused of murdering his ex-partner, an Algerian national from Oran died last Friday in the Rimouski detention center in Canada. A death that put an end to all legal proceedings arising from his case.

Indeed, Nourdinne Mimouni, aged 34, allegedly took his own life, voluntarily, in his cell, on September 9th. In addition, an investigation by the coroner’s office, concerning the death of this Algerian, has been initiated. And this, in accordance with the procedures for the death of detainees in Canada, indicates Radio Canada.

The next hearing supposed to decide in this case has been scheduled for September 14. In accordance with the words of his lawyer, in this case Charles-Olivier Gosselin. The prosecutor assigned to his case could drop all charges.

As a reminder, Noureddine Mimouni is accused of domestic violence, but also of having murdered Nathalie Piché, his ex-companion. Indeed, the latter, 55 years old. A was found stabbed in the couple’s apartment on Duval Avenue, in Limoilou, Quebec.
