The National Union of Tunisian Journalists (SNJT) announced Sunday in a press release, the release of journalist Ghassen Ben Khélifa, in detention for 5 days on the instructions of the prosecution of the judicial pole for the fight against terrorism.

The SNJT strongly condemned on September 7, the arbitrary arrest of journalist Ghassen Ben Khélifa, founder of the “Inhiyez” site after a raid on his home and the home of his parents without the presentation of a warrant and his unjustified detention for 5 days renewable.

The journalists’ union also denounced “the facility of the public prosecutor’s office to issue arrest warrants against citizens and journalists without there being any suspicions or elements of crimes”, pointing out that journalists, bloggers, and human rights defenders men are exposed daily to defamation campaigns, threats and electronic bullying by partisan pages in power without the judiciary taking the slightest measure despite the numerous complaints filed to this effect.

It should be noted that a protest march was organized last Friday from the headquarters of the national union of Tunisian journalists towards Avenue Habib Bourguiba to demand the release of journalist Ghassen Ben Khelifa.
