Algiers: The media revealed that Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov was visiting Algeria on Monday.
Al-Arabiya channel reported that the Russian Foreign Minister will meet President Abdelmadjid Tebboune during his visit to Algeria on Monday.
The source said that Lavrov will discuss with the Algerian president international and regional developments.
This will be the first visit by a Russian minister since the start of the Russian war in Ukraine on February 24.
At the beginning of April, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced, during his meeting with Foreign Minister Ramtane Lamamra in Moscow, that he intended to visit Algeria soon, without specifying a date for this visit.
Lavrov said: “I plan to visit Algeria soon, I will insist that you receive me, we say you come late is better than never.”
The Russian minister said he was happy to have had the opportunity to discuss bilateral relations with Algeria on the sidelines of a meeting with representatives of the contact group of the League of Arab States.
