Algeria officially reacted to information about the suspension of visas by the United Arab Emirates for Algerians, this Thursday, November 26. The Algerian Foreign Ministry denied this news, indicating that the document attributed to the Emirati leaders and which was circulated was “falsified”.

In a statement released on Thursday, the Algerian Foreign Ministry denied the information that the United Arab Emirates have decided to ban Algerian nationals from entering their soil.

“Some foreign media and social media pages have disseminated information claiming that Algeria was included in a document published by an official authority of the United Arab Emirates prohibiting Algerians from obtaining entry visas to the territory of the Arab Emirates united as well as citizens of other countries”, reads the press release of the MFA.

Thus, the Algerian ministry affirmed that this information was completely “false” and had “no basis”. The MAE also underlines that “the high Emirati authorities have completely denied the existence of a decision, which includes Algerian citizens, to prevent them from entering their lands”. Moreover, the same source revealed that “the promoted document, in which the name of Algeria was inscribed, is falsified and that suspicious parties are behind”.

As a reminder, this document revealed by the Reuters agency had widely circulated Tuesday, November 24. It was about a supposed circular addressed to the services of the emigration and providing that “the applications for visas to enter the country, including work visas, are suspended until further notice for the nationalities of the following countries: Yemen, Syria, Iraq, Libya, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Somalia, Lebanon, Kenya, Tunisia, Algeria, Turkey and Iran.”
