The national army provides the health system with an infrastructure intended to take care of patients with Covid-19.

A hotel attached to the preparation centre for military sports teams, located in Ben Aknoun (Algiers), transformed into a health infrastructure intended for the reception and care of people with coronavirus.

The official transformation ceremony of the center took place this Thursday, November 26 in the presence of the ANP chief of staff, Saïd Chanegriha.

The infrastructure is equipped with 120 beds and all the necessary equipment for the care of Covid patients, such as artificial respirators. Its management is entrusted to qualified medical and paramedical staff.

“This exceptional provision, which occurs following the recording of a worrying increase in the number of contagious infections by this contagious virus, comes within the framework of our resolution to keep our commitments towards the homeland and the people”, indicated the general of the army.

Said Chanegriha recalls that the ANP has not skimped on efforts to participate in the fight against the pandemic, in particular making its air fleet available to the authorities for the repatriation of Algerians stranded abroad or to transport medical equipment.

On April 8, at the very start of the pandemic, the Central Director of Military Health Services announced that 70% of the capacities of military hospitals are mobilized and prepared in order to deal with any eventuality of an evolution of the pandemic of coronavirus.

He also indicated that the ANP also has field hospitals which can be deployed in case of need to provide assistance and equipped with all the necessary equipment, radiology services, resuscitation, a block operating and analytical laboratories to perform surgical operations and intensive care.

These hospitals can be installed “anywhere, and are immediately operational,” he said.
