NIAMEY (Niger)- The areas of cooperation between Algeria and Niger are “very wide,” said Thursday, in Niamey, Niger’s Prime Minister Brigi Rafini who called for a boost in exchanges between the two neighbouring countries.

The areas of cooperation between the two countries “are very wide. That is why the holding of this Niger-Algeria High Joint Commission is an additional occasion to boost the already flourishing cooperation,” he said at the opening of the works of the first session of the high joint commission.

He added that “Algeria and Niger have the firm willingness to strengthen and diversify this cooperation,” he said, adding that “the holding of this session will open up new cooperation prospects between the two countries that base their relations on longstanding brotherly, solidarity and good-neighbourly ties.”

Brigi underlined “the close consultation and the complete convergence of positions of the two countries on regional and international issues as well as their commitment to work together for the achievement of goals of common interest and to contribute to the promotion of peace, security and the stability and development of the African continent.”

He added that this session is also a step “to review several projects relating to the creation of a Niger-Algeria Business Council, the signing of a cooperation agreement in the areas of employment and social security, and a cooperation agreement in the field of communication.”
