“Algeria: New Partnerships”: Look back at the 15th Edition of Algerian-French Meetings

The Algerian-French meetings are an opportunity to strengthen economic relations. Indeed, despite the checkered diplomatic relations between Algeria and France, the two countries experience significant trade and solid economic relations. Algeria and France are important economic partners whatever the political situation they are going through.

The two countries are experiencing steady growth in their trade. In 2023, these exchanges recorded an increase of 5.3% to reach 11.8 billion euros compared to 11.2 billion in 2022. It must be said that French companies are present in large numbers in Algeria and French economic players are interested in a market that has a lot of advantages.

To improve these exchanges and also French investments in Algeria, two employers’ organizations organized the 15th edition of the Algeria meetings on March 5. Meetings which took place over three days in Paris, Lyon and Marseille (France).

These meetings, which took place under the theme “Algeria: new partnerships”, aimed to materialize bilateral economic cooperation commitments, as set at the beginning of February, through the roadmap of the Algerian-French Business Council created by the Algerian Economic Renewal Council (CREA) and the French Business Movement (MEDEF).

Algerian-French meetings: a new start for economic cooperation

The director of the Business France office in Algeria, Romain Keraval, returned to these meetings in an intervention in the newspaper L’Algérie Today. He affirmed that these meetings “enlightened and reassured French companies, lacking information on the Algerian market”. There are “624 managers of French and Algerian companies, including 16 large Algerian accounts – large companies – represented in France” who participated in these Algerian-French meetings, indicates the French official who emphasizes that this event also gave rise to “ 310 B2B meetings” between operators from the two countries operating in various sectors.

Romain Keraval explains that the Algerian-French meetings “serve the objective of the renewed partnership” put in place by the Algerian and French authorities. A partnership which was “recently strengthened by the creation of the Algerian-French Business Council (CAAF), bringing together the two main employers’ organizations of the two countries”, further indicates the director of the Business France office in Algeria.

There are therefore 360 ​​French business leaders who participated in this bilateral cooperation meeting. These economic operators were able to “learn about the potential business opportunities that Algeria holds, thanks to the various round tables led by 55 recognized experts, around specific themes”, underlines Romain Keraval.

“The industrialization of Algeria in the sectors of health, agri-food, mechanical subcontracting and plastics processing”, “decarbonization of the economy and energy transition”, “digital services, transport and logistics”, as well as “agriculture, agricultural machinery, fishing and aquaculture” were the main themes addressed during this economic meeting .
