International Espoirs, the OGC Nice striker announced that he would not play with the Algerian selection, preferring to wait for the Blues.

His name had been mentioned to strengthen the selection of Algeria, the country where his parents are from, but Amine Gouiri has no intention of giving in to the sirens on the other side of the Mediterranean. He had already assured it a few weeks ago and he has just repeated it, affirming that he is even ready to continue with the Bleuets pending a call-up for the France A team.

Ready to wait the time it takes for the Blues

“Now, we have a new generation of Espoirs and I will be a veteran who has the experience of this selection,” said the former Lyonnais in an interview with the Team. He is therefore ready to leave for a new adventure with Sylvain Ripoll’s gang. Those who still hoped to see him join the African champion team can definitely move on.

Gouiri has taken a step forward since joining OGC Nice. Its progress is evident. Last weekend, they were also particularly noticeable during the great success against Lille (5-0). However, he keeps his feet on the ground and knows that he still has a long way to go.: “I have a status, it’s up to me to assume it, but I don’t take the lead and I always think of the same things: working hard to be up to the task. The look on me has changed, but if I don’t continue they will tell me to wake up! I pretend I’m starting from scratch.”
