WASHINGTON (United States)- US Think Tank Center for Transatlantic Relations will organize on December 5-6, in Washington, a forum on the promotion of economic relations between the United States and the Mediterranean countries, and which will be mainly focused on Maghreb countries.

The meeting, to be held just after the US presidential election, will be an opportunity to “stress the importance of the Mediterranean region, whose countries should demand, in the future, more attention from the new American administration,” Sacha Toperich, a senior researcher at this centre based at John Hopkins University in Washington, told APS.

The forum, to be organized in partnership with the US chamber of commerce, will be attended by all Maghreb countries, Turkey, the Balkans, several diplomatic and governmental bodies and the American business community, said Sacha Toperich, also director of the Mediterranean Initiative at the Center for Transatlantic Relations.

The event will also be an opportunity to reaffirm “the role of Algeria as a leading g nation in North Africa,” said the academic, who is the author of many publications about Algeria
