Foreign currency fund transfers from Tunisians living abroad, during the first three quarters of the current year, increased by 4 percent compared to the same period last year, according to figures published by the Central Bank on its website.

As of March 31, 2024, these transfers amount to approximately 1,810 million dinars, compared to 1,738 million dinars on the same date in 2023.

These transfers, added to tourist revenues, which amounted to 1,225.8 million dinars at the end of March 2024, helped to support Tunisia’s hard currency reserve, which exceeded 23 billion at the end of last week. of dinars, or approximately 106 days of imports.

Over the past year, financial transfers from Tunisians abroad exceeded 7 billion dinars, which helped increase the value of foreign currency reserves and covered 65 percent of the external debt. It should be noted that the number of Tunisians residing abroad is around two million Tunisians, according to the Office of Tunisians Abroad.
