The Bar Association thus criticized the behavior of some of their colleagues who “burst into the office of President Brahim Bouderbala”

The National Bar Association of Tunisia denounced on Friday the excesses committed by certain lawyers.

In a press release published after the council meeting on Friday evening and relayed by the official Tunis Afrique Presse (TAP) agency, the Bar Association criticized the behavior of some of their colleagues who “burst into the president’s office (Brahim Bouderbala) and shouted slogans against him and against the structures of the profession”.

“This is a dangerous precedent that is unethical and violates all bylaws and bylaws of the trade,” the statement said.

At the same time, the National Bar Association of Tunisia called for the release of the former president of the Bar, Abderrazzek Kilani (who is appearing before the military courts).

“We reject the appearance of civilians before military tribunals,” TAP reported quoting the same source.

The latter attribute political and moral responsibility to political parties “which have maintained, for a whole decade, exceptional laws and decrees in total violation of fundamental rights and freedoms”.

Also according to TAP, the National Bar Association says it “keeps an equal distance from all political parties and away from political tussles and quarrels”.

Recall that Abderrazzek Kilani is accused of having disturbed “public order” and of having committed “an offense against the execution of a law”. He is also the subject of other charges including: “contempt of a public official by words and threats in the exercise of his functions, the attempt to bring about, by means of disturbances and fraudulent maneuvers, a cessation individual or collective work and incitement of the security forces to rebellion”.
