Noureddine Boutar nevertheless remains subject to a ban on leaving the territory

Noureddine Boutar, managing director and founder of private radio station, Mosaïque FM, was released on bail on Wednesday, local media report

The Appeals Chamber at the Economic and Financial Judicial Center decided to release the journalist on bail of 1 million dinars (330 thousand US dollars). Noureddine Boutar nevertheless remains subject to a ban on leaving the territory.

The boss of Mosaïque FM was arrested on February 13, following a raid and a search of his home. He was subsequently the subject of a committal order for “suspicions of money laundering and illicit enrichment”.

The accusations of corruption against the general manager of Mosaïque FM find no echo in the report of the Financial Analysis Commission. This underlines, in fact, the absence of suspicion of embezzlement or foreign financing.

Ayoub Ghedamsi, Noureddine Boutar’s lawyer, indicated on Tuesday that the defense committee had presented, to the indictment chamber of the Court of Appeal, the file of the request for release, with the documents of the technical expertise attesting to the absence of suspicious financial transactions on his client’s accounts.
