– The voting session was postponed until Friday.

The President of the Tunisian Parliament, Ibrahim Bouderbala, announced Thursday that the voting session on the bill criminalizing normalization had been postponed until Friday.

This happened during a night plenary session of the Tunisian Parliament dedicated to the vote on the law criminalizing normalization with Israel.

Bouderbala declared during the voting session that “Tunisian President Kaïs Saïed recommended that he inform the representatives of the postponement of the session given the negative effects that the bill represents on Tunisia’s external security and its interests “.

Bouderbala stressed that “this position (of the president) was made in the presence of the two vice-presidents of the Council”, adding that he chose “to transmit the position to the representatives so that they do what they deem appropriate”.

On Thursday morning, the House of People’s Representatives began a plenary session to discuss the bill criminalizing normalization with Israel.

In August 2023, the Tunisian Parliament announced that the Commission on Rights and Freedoms had begun studying a bill calling for the “criminalization” of normalization with Israel.
