Tunisia: Increase in clothing exports to the European market

“Tunisian clothing exports on the European market increased by 11.27%, during the 8 months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020”. This is what emerges from the results of an analysis carried out by the Technical Center for Textile ( CETTEX ) on European imports of clothing. In value, exports were of the order of 1.1 billion euros, during the 8 months of 2021.

Tunisia is ranked 9th supplier to the EU in clothing with a market share of 2.69%, according to this analysis published on Tuesday.

Despite a drop in European imports, some suppliers have stepped up their clothing exports to the European Union (EU), including Tunisia, thus achieving better performance, with an increase in its exports to this market of 11, 2%.

Tunisian exports of jeans pants up 15.96%

Tunisian exports of jeans pants to the European market were of the order of 208 million euros in 2021. And this against 180 million euros during the same period of 2020, up 15.96% .

Tunisia is the 4th largest supplier to the EU. It is ahead of Bangladesh, Turkey and Pakistan respectively, with a market share of around 9.07% in value and quantity.

This export value of Jeans corresponds to quantities of 11.59 million pieces of Jeans exported against 9.9 million pieces exported in 2020.

The average price per part showed a decrease of -5% during the 8 months of 2021, compared to the same period of 2020.

As the EU’s main supplier of Jeans, Tunisia has the highest average price of 18.01 euros per item compared to 18.14 euros for the same period of 2020.

These results show that Tunisia once again confirms its know-how in the top-of-the-range jeans niche, again according to this analysis.

Tunisia ranked as the EU’s second largest supplier of professional clothing

Tunisia’s exports of work clothes by value to the European market increased by 21.49%, during the 8 months of 2021.

As a result, Tunisia is ranked second to the EU in professional clothing after China, with a market share of 17.33%.

Tunisia is thus strengthening its positioning on the EU, recording an increase of 18.55% compared to the same period of 2022.

In value, Tunisia’s exports to the EU in work clothing during the 8 months of 2021 amount to 173.6 million euros for a volume of 5.2 million pieces, and an average price of 33.1 euros.

En termes de prix moyen par pièce, la Tunisie vient en seconde position (33,1euros), après la Turquie (50,2 euros) qui détient le prix le plus élevé. L’UE importe 73 millions de pièces de vêtement de travail avec un prix moyen de 13,71 euros.
