In response to statements by former Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki, in which he accuses Algeria of “interference in Tunisian affairs”, during the events of the so-called “Arab Spring”, the Tunisian Foreign Ministry said that such “irresponsible attitudes only engage their authors, and in no way the Tunisian state”.

The repeated attacks by the former Tunisian president, Moncef Marzouki, against Algeria do not pass among Tunisians. The Tunisian Foreign Ministry affirmed its “deep astonishment at the declarations attacking Algeria, a brother country”.

The Tunisian MFA thus reiterated, in a statement published Tuesday on its Facebook page, its “categorical rejection of all desperate attempts to undermine the strength and depth of fraternal ties and strategic relations between Tunisia and Algeria. “.

In response particularly to statements by Moncef Marzouki in which he accuses Algeria of “interference in Tunisian affairs” during the Arab Spring, the Tunisian MFA affirmed that such “irresponsible attitudes are the sole responsibility of their authors and not at all. Tunisian State ”. “These declarations will in no way affect the exceptional Tunisian-Algerian relations which continue to record remarkable development, thanks to the sincere desire of the leaders of the two countries to strengthen coordination, consultation as well as the common faith in them. values of fraternity, solidarity and the community of destiny for the best interests of the two brotherly peoples ”, argued the Tunisian MFA. Since his departure from power, Moncef Marzouki has regularly attacked Algeria. He is animated with a visceral hatred towards Algerians.

Its assaults are carried out whenever Algeria goes through difficult times internally. This made some wise observers of the Maghreb political scene say that the former Tunisian president, who the world knows was graciously paid by Qatar to help break Libya in 2011, is this time commissioned by lobbies to destabilize Algeria. There are many elements that support the idea that he is, among other things, an agent of the Moroccan makhzen with whom he is also very close.

Visceral hatred

Regardless, Moncef Marzouki is widely disowned in Tunisia, including by his former great political ally, Rached Ghannouchi.

The president of the Tunisian movement Ennahdha, the first political force in Tunisia, has said he will not tolerate any damage to the strategic relationship between the two brother countries, Tunisia and Algeria. “We will not tolerate, in the interests of Tunisia, any attack on the strategic relationship that binds us to our Algerian brothers,” Ghannouchi said in an interview with Radio Algeria International (RAI).

“Our relationship with Algeria is at the forefront of international and regional relations, being a strategic relationship, and we are grateful to our Algerian brothers, State and people, for having been alongside the Tunisians in difficult times” , said Mr. Ghanouchi according to the information taken up by the APS.

The leader of Ennahdha who is currently the President of the Tunisian Parliament recalled that “Tunisia was engaged in a period of democratic transition, during the decade of the post-Revolution stage, a stage strewn with pitfalls and difficulties. ”, Arguing that Algeria has provided significant support to his country. “The support provided by Algeria to Tunisia during our democratic transition was characterized by donations and credits and even by the millions of Algerians who breathed new life into the tourist and economic life of our country at the time. where European countries have abandoned us in times of unrest, ”he said. On the occasion, Rached Ghannouchi “reaffirmed” his commitment to elevate these relations to high levels and to achieve the integration of the economies of Tunisia and Algeria and their internal and external policies.
