Tripling of the Number of Cruise Passengers Disembarking in Tunisia in 2023

The number of cruise passengers disembarking in Tunisia more than tripled in 2023 compared to the previous year, reaching 179,000 compared to 55,000, according to data published Thursday, February 29, 2024, by the Ministry of Transport.

This significant increase is due to the resumption of cruises by large international companies specializing in this area at the port of La Goulette, explained the ministry in a note relating to maritime transport and port activity in 2023.

As for the total number of passengers in Tunisian ports, it recorded an increase of 1% compared to 2022, to reach 788,000 passengers.

The number of vehicles increased by 3%, reaching 314,000 in 2023, compared to 305,000 vehicles in 2022.

Concerning the services operated by the Tunisian Navigation Company (CTN), their number increased by 2.5% compared to 2022, to reach a total of 322 services.

The number of passengers increased from 274,000 in 2022 to 277,000 in 2023, an increase of 1%.

As for the traffic of the New Kerkennah Transport Company (Sonotrak), the number of services provided decreased by 2% compared to 2022, totaling 3,986.

Furthermore, passenger traffic between Sfax and Kerkennah increased by 8% compared to 2022, to reach 1.329 million.
