Sonatrach: 70% Increase in Export Turnover at the End of May 2022

The national hydrocarbon company Sonatrach achieved an export turnover at the end of May 2022 of 21.5 billion dollars, against 12.6 billion dollars at the end of May 2021, an increase of 70%, according to the balance sheet of the group’s achievements during the first 5 months of the current year.

Primary hydrocarbon production reached 79.2 million tonnes of oil equivalent (TOE) at the end of May 2022, up 2% compared to the results at the end of May 2021, it is specified in the report. Same report was presented on Sunday by the Director of Performance Management within the group, Mohamed Rochdi Boutaleb, during a press conference devoted to the presentation of Sonatrach’s report for 2021 and the first 5 months of 2022.

75% increase in Sonatrach’s exports in 2021

At the same time, the same official indicated, according to the APS agency, that Sonatrach achieved an export turnover of 35.4 billion dollars (USD billion) in 2021, an increase of 75%. compared to 2020.

Export turnover increased under the effect of prices, up to 76%, and volumes up to 24%, according to Mohamed Rochdi Boutaleb, who explained that this increase was achieved in particular thanks to a favorable oil market context, with an average price of 72.3 dollars/barrel of the Sahara Blend in 2021 against 41.9 dollars in 2020.

In addition, a gas market, also favorable, according to the same official, allowed the increase of national exports by gas pipeline by 54%, and by liquefied way by 13%.

Mr. Boutaleb recalled the global oil price growth in 2021 of more than 70% compared to 2020, mainly resulting from the recovery of the world economy, the tightening of supplies, the increased demand on petroleum products and good performance of the financial markets.
