The health crisis has not prevented Morocco from pursuing its policy of strengthening its military equipment. According to the Defense website, in 2020 the kingdom signed new contracts for the acquisition of a large quantity of materials and equipment for the benefit of the Royal Armed Forces.

Morocco has ordered around 300 VLRA vehicles from French company Arquus, said Emmanuel Levancher, CEO of the company, one of the largest arms suppliers in Morocco.

These light vehicles, resembling a small truck, have a range of 1,400 kilometers and a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour. They consist of a cabin that can hold two soldiers (a pilot and a co-pilot) and a van that can carry between 12 and 19 soldiers.

For several years, Morocco has been strengthening and modernizing its armed forces with various latest generation equipment acquired from the United States, France, and even the People’s Republic of China.
