Spanish and Portuguese companies are interested in the halal market in Morocco. A promising sector where they hope to acquire market share.

Companies wishing to be part of this program must respect a series of criteria to apply for the label called “Muslim friendly”. Gemma Gil is the coordinator of this project with the Foundation of the three cultures of the Mediterranean which strongly supports this initiative. He explained that a virtual platform will be set up and will be more explicit on the strategies to be adopted to target this sector effectively, reports leseco.ma.

The platform is banking on this project which, according to the promoters, takes into account the fact that the halal market is booming and constitutes, for companies, a diversification opportunity not to be missed. “A growing sector where the average spending is higher than that of other customers, whether in the food industry or in the tourism sector.” In Spain, the halal market has totaled 1.5 billion euros in sales over the past two years, compared to 5 billion in France.

Analysts predict it will experience steady growth in the coming years, according to the Global Muslim Travel Index report, compiled by Mastercard and Crescent Rating, an entity dedicated to Muslim and halal tourism.
