Following a strategic agreement initiated Thursday between the Moroccan National Tourist Office (ONMT) and Ryanair, the latter announced the opening in November of a base at Agadir airport, its third in Morocco.

The Irish low-cost airline will base two planes in Agadir-Al Massira, hire 60 people and invest $ 200 million. It will thus connect Agadir to seven European countries (Ireland, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Germany and Poland). It will open 16 new destinations which will be added to the 9 existing destinations, operating a total of 25 lines (to Tenerife, Malaga, Alicante, Barcelona, Rome, Dublin, Paris-Beauvais, Porto, etc.) from its new Moroccan base. Between Agadir-Al Massira and Paris-Beauvais, it will offer three flights per week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, from next November.

With its base, Ryanair will offer a capacity of 229,000 seats in the winter season 2021-2022 (against 108,000 seats in the 2019-2020 season before Covid-19) to reach 570,000 seats in 2024. For the ONMT, the opening of the Ryanair base will strengthen the tourism development of Taghazout , the seaside destination located on the Atlantic coast, north of the city of Agadir.

“Ryanair is proud to announce the upcoming opening of its third Moroccan base. For Ryanair, this is a historic partnership since its first flight to Agadir in 2008. Ryanair is happy to contribute to the development of this region, as a leading winter destination”, declared Eddie Wilson, general manager of low cost.
